Music Ministry

Music Ministry at St. Bridget’s

serves to invite the full, active, and joyful participation of the assembly

through liturgical music that inspires and encourages the faithful

to express in song their love for God and God’s loving presence amongst us.

All styles of “hymns and inspired songs” are included in our musical repertoire ranging from chant, sacred polyphony and traditional hymnody to contemporary liturgical hymns and songs.

St. Bridget’s invites musicians of all ages who feel called by their gifts, talents, and passions to consider serving in music ministry in various ways:

  • Cantor: Experienced musicians who possess the gifts of singing and hospitality are encouraged to become a Cantor. Cantors are utilized at all weekend liturgies - as soloists when the choir is not present and leading some musical elements at liturgies with the choir present. A simple audition is required for this ministry. Liturgy training and musical support is provided.

  • Instrumentalists: Musicians, high school age and older, who have played an instrument for 3 years or more are welcome to share their talents at any liturgy. Any and all instruments are welcome.

  • Adult Choir: The St Bridget Adult Choir enriches the assembly song with harmonies intended to inspire participation. Those high school aged and older are encouraged to join. The choir sings at the Sunday 9:30 mass (about 2 times a month) and other Solemnities and special celebrations throughout the year. The choir meets September through Corpus Christ Sunday (May/June), meeting for an 8:30am Sunday morning rehearsal preceding the 9:30am mass. Occasional Wednesday evening rehearsals are scheduled to prepare for the Christmas and Easter Season. It is not necessary to be an experienced singer to join, just a willingness to sing with others, a heart of service, and a desire to help others enter into the mysteries of the Mass.
